Fried Rice with Shrimp

Fried Rice with Shrimp

This Chinese-style fried rice is one of those recipes that never disappoint — a mix of fluffy rice, shrimp, colorful veggies, and that irresistible sesame aroma. It’s perfect for busy days when you want something quick, filling, and full of flavor.

Ingredients

  1. ¼ cup dark soy sauce
  2. 2 tbsp light soy sauce
  3. 2 tbsp sesame oil (or vegetable oil)
  4. 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds

Directions

  1. In a Pyrex granite wok, heat a little butter with sesame oil — this combo gives that authentic Asian flavor.
  2. Add the shrimp and sauté for a few minutes until pink and cooked through. (You can also make it with chicken if you prefer.)
  3. Add your favorite veggies — I used peas, carrots, and corn. Stir-fry them together for a few minutes.
  4. Push everything to one side of the pan and crack in 2 eggs. Lightly whisk them in the pan until just cooked, then mix them with the veggies and shrimp.
  5. Pour in the soy sauce mixture, then add cooked rice (either basmati or Egyptian rice — as long as it’s cold and not sticky).
  6. Toss everything gently so the sauce coats every grain.
  7. Adjust salt to taste, sprinkle with fresh coriander or green onions, and finish with a few sesame seeds on top.

The result? Perfectly fried rice — aromatic, balanced, and so satisfying. You’ll never need takeout again!
